Update on Costume Poll Results and Artistic Progress

Hello and welcome back to another episode of our development journey!

This weekend, our creative polls concluded, and your insightful feedback has significantly shaped the artistic direction of SOULCOOM. We deeply appreciate your involvement as it is crucial to navigating our game's creative checkpoints.

Costume Poll Outcomes:

The community has spoken, and here are the top picks from our costume poll:

  • 1st Place: Costume #22
  • 2nd Place: Costumes #21 & #23
  • 3rd Place: Costumes #25, #5, & #1



Early Costume Tests in SOULCOOM™ 0.6.33d

As the results were still streaming in, we were able to start testing out the leading favored costumes within the game. At this point we had 12 of these costumes ready to go including the 1st and 2nd place costumes. We've been pushing in this area for a while even before we started the poll. However, as expressed within the 0.6.33d update, I felt that we were missing something important artistically.





Reflecting on Artistic Direction:

We were able to iron out the production pipeline and we started churning these out pretty quick, we had about 12 new costumes ready to go. However, as I mentioned in SOULCOOM™ 0.6.33d, I believed that the art direction of the costume design; specifically the fantastical culture elements. What do these fairys do all day? What do they believe in? What is the weather like? We realized that the larger story mode in our game had been largely ignored. While we were solving the production needs we suspended the fantastical reasoning for our  costumes. I said we could do better and they are back now, better than ever:

Another Important Bump in the Road; Female Model's Anatomy Adjustment:

While we were solving this creative problem we stumbled into another important discovery, that there are some gaps in the female model's anatomy that need addressing to refine the clothing design further but more importantly, the overall model's form. A shorter stomach, wider hips, and larger legs. So that's what we will be working on for a while, to bring you the most Venusian, feminine female we can possibly achieve.


Basically, as a result of solving the clothing design issues, we have found essential gaps in the female model's feminine form and anatomy that simply, must be solved, in order to proceed to further into the game's design. The art is everything for us. In Thursday's post we will go over the results from the other creative poll that ended, that's helping us decide where the FFP head should first appear when we are done with it.
