Devlog Update: Muse System, Player Jobs, and Quest Progress

Hello, and happy thanksgiving from us here! Wherever you are... enjoy a nice meal and drink today. There is much to be grateful for, like for your time reading our blog today and the support of our partners who are making this production possible.

Prologue Written

  • I’ve started drafting our Prologue and am quite happy with how it’s shaping up! This week, our exclusive preview includes the first few pages for you to check out as well as character bios for the Creamveil family.
  • The story begins as the player awakens from eternal rest in the mystical Jaded Glade, stirred by a mysterious female figure. She reveals that you are at the center of The Legend of Da’di, a heroic reincarnation myth woven into fairy folklore.
  • You (the player) awaken as an amnesiac in Lola’s Shire, a cozy cottage on the edge of town. Guided by Mrs. Creamveil, you’ll play through the tutorial to relearn basic mechanics like movement and reading, before heading out to explore the wider world.

Muse System Enhancements

  • Reworked stats to be stored individually for each muse.
  • Added the ability to assign muses to work shifts with selectable lengths and stamina costs.
  • Introduced notifications for when muses complete their shifts, requiring players to collect them and view outcomes.
  • Implemented a progression mechanic for muses that reflects purity/corruption (Pur/Cor), with gradual visual and narrative transformations.

Player Job Functionality

  • Reintroduced the ability for the player to work jobs as their own "special muse," providing a way to progress early game.
  • Added a stamina-based system for player jobs, creating balance and pacing.

Quest and UI Updates

  • Expanded quest functionality, including tracking progress and displaying objectives.
  • Improved the notification system to enhance workflow for quests and jobs.
  • Incorporated new UI elements, including stat displays and dynamic notifications.

Upcoming Work

  • Refining the quest system to incorporate more complex objectives and story progression.
