Devlog Update: Prologue Development and Community Feedback

Hello, and welcome to this week’s devlog update! We’re excited to share some of the progress we’ve made and address important community feedback.

Community Feedback: Mobile Optimization

We’ve recently heard from our mobile players regarding performance challenges. While we’ve focused on building the larger game, we acknowledge the mobile experience needs more attention. As of today, we’ve begun investigating ways to enhance mobile performance with the intention of having it  fixed by Thursday.

From our initial findings, the liquid simulation system seems to be consuming significant mobile resources. We are actively exploring elegant solutions to optimize this feature without compromising the gameplay experience. Thank you for your patience as we work to make the game more accessible and enjoyable across all platforms.

Prologue

We’re making great strides in building the foundation of Act 1, including its prologue, quests, and core gameplay loops. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect:

Prologue: The Jaded Glades: A Psychedelic Beginning

Your first quest in Soulcoom begins with awakening from your Jade in the Jaded Glades—an aetheric jungle where the dead find rest and life drifts in a nameless dream. The player is brought back to life by a pair of enigmatic twins who grant them a second chance. This leads to a physics-based minigame where you rip the Eye of Providence from a pyramid.

This week, we improved this sequence by adding the FPP model of the twins with close-up pussy squishing SFX, provided by one of our most talented voice models. While the scene is abstract, the sound design ensures it remains sexually charged and immersive.

Reclaiming Your Body and Understanding the World

Awakening isn’t easy. Upon regaining consciousness, the player finds themselves in a familiar cottage, unable to move or understand Ms. Creamveil, her native language of Fate appearing as untranslated runes. Through physics-based challenges and inventory management minigames, players will gradually:

  • Regain control of their arms, legs, and their DONG through physic minigames.
  • Unlock the ability to interpret the hidden runic language of the world through inventory management game loops.
  • Build skills towards leaving the cottage

As players progress, they will explore, manage inventory, and engage in timing-based minigames using books that contain the game's hidden lore. These activities will gradually translate the unreadable runes into English, deepening the player's understanding of the environment, characters, and foreshadowing the overarching plot.
