Devlog Update: Mobile Optimization and Indoor Progress

Mobile Version Decision

In response to community feedback, we’re pausing development on the mobile version due to hardware limitations, particularly for mid-range and low-end devices. The game’s liquid simulation and sprite-heavy models require high GPU and VRAM performance, making mobile optimization a challenge without a major overhaul. Our focus is now on refining the PC version for Steam, with plans to revisit mobile optimization in the final development stages. For now, we recommend playing on desktop as we prioritize story mode.

Prologue and Act 1Gameplay Progress

We’ve made great strides in fleshing out the prologue and indoor gameplay:

  • Prologue Updates:
    • Added the FPP body to the stage.
    • Added dynamic music and sound effects to enhance immersion.
    • Fine tuning the dialogue and how it appears in the UI.
  • Indoor Navigation:
    • Connected our previous indoor exploration vehicle to the prologue.
    • Considering removing the walking model through indoor stages, navigation is less tedious this way and we want to get to the fun part faster.
    • Implemented transitions between rooms (e.g., bedroom, hallway, living room) using hover/click interactions on screen edges.
    • Added simple fade-to-black transitions between room changes.
  • Background Art and Day/Night Cycles:
    • Updated indoor background visuals in-game with time-of-day-dependent lighting.
    • Backgrounds now shift seamlessly to reflect morning, afternoon, and evening.

Next Steps

  • Internal Playable Demo: The team is working towards a playable demo that integrates the indoor exploration, dialogue systems, and initial quest progression. This will allow us to test the pacing and polish of Act 1 and realign with the creative goals of the game.
  • Skill and Stat Integration: We’re aligning stats like fitness, intellect, and speech with gameplay objectives. For example, unlocking areas or deciphering runes will depend on developing these stats through exploration and puzzles.
  • Expanding Minigames: Physics-based sex minigames and other mechanics will be streamlined for broader use across characters and settings, offering both variety and replayability.
